Identification note: looking north from the crossroads, back in the 1940s. Just visible on the left is Pearson, Cole & Shoreland, the estate agents, later to become Pearson, Cole & Hemens. The next two shops belonged to the Misses M & CM Loveless, drapers and ladies' outfitters, and later Hawkers. Mr Hugh Wyeth's house can be seen to the right of the picture.
