Summary: photograph, black and white, row of shops, including Halifax Building Society, showing bomb damage in New Milton following air raid 23rd August 1940, mostly in Station Road

Identification note: possibly copied in 1969, 'ex-Kirkman' on back. Bomb damage at the Halifax Building Society and the Misses Loveless’ drapers shop on Station Road in August 1940. Miraculously no-one in the draper’s shop was killed - five girls survived by sheltering under the counter.
