Description

Summary: photograph, bw mounted on card, of town mayor, burgesses and other civic dignitaries, and six swimmers in bathing costumes, and Mr Simpson the swimming instructor, at the sea baths, Lymington, Lymington and Pennington, Hampshire, about 1933

Identification note: This photograph was perhaps taken when the baths re-opened under the ownership of the Town Council in 1929. The Councillors, Town Band and even the Fire Brigade are gathered on the balcony while a group of intrepid swimmers and their instructor, Mr Simpson, pose below. The 1920s and 1930s were the heyday for open-air swimming pools or lidos.
