Description

Summary: drawing, coloured drawing on blank postcard of the Crimean cannon, both situated opposite the Infirmary at the northern end of New Street, Lymington, Lymington and Pennington, Hampshire, as it would have appeared in 1930

Identification note: At the end of the Crimean War in 1856 Lymington was presented with a gun captured at the siege of Sebastopol. It was mounted on a new carriage made at the Woolwich Arsenal and placed at the north end of New Street, opposite the Workhouse. There it remained until 1941 when it was melted down for the war effort.
