Identification note: labelled as 'Indian Convalescent Home'. Indian Convalescent Home, Barton-on-Sea, New Milton. Early in World War I the Grand Marine Hotel was requisitioned to accommodate wounded soldiers. Huts were built for the troops in the grounds of the hotel and the Indian Convalescent Home sign was added. Indian troops can be seen standing in the road.
