Summary: ashtray, made from a cut-down aluminium piston for a Merlin aero engine, stuck to the base is the original circular paper label titled "Wellworthy Piston Rings Ltd. May I thank you for your help in billeting War Workers which made possible the production of millions of these pistons and other parts and so enabled us to give Churchill the tools" signed "John Howlett. Chairman and Managing Director" marked inside, "Wellworthy, Lymington" highly polished, 14cm x 5 cm

Identification note: such ash-trays were made from faulty pistons, these ash trays were given to people billeting women workers who come in batches of 60 at a time to train in Lymington a few then go to Salisbury to man the shadow factory there, then another 60 come
