Description
Summary: indenture, formal indenture of apprenticeship between Edwin Inman, boatbuilder, and 14 year-old Dan Bran, son of George Bran of Woodside, Lymington, to run for 7 years from 1882 but terminated on death of Inman in 1886, signed and sealed at Lymington, Lymington and Pennington, Hampshire, 19 April 1883
Identification note: Dan Bran was a well known local character, steeped in the river and boat building. His father had sailed on Alarm and Fortuna. After working at Inman’s he built prams and scows at a shed near the sea baths and reputedly never used plans, instead drawing a rough outline on the floor of his boatshed.
