Friends Talk

Time: to

Friday 2 February – 7.30pm – Lymington Baptist Church

Our speaker is Paul Atterbury from Antiques Roadshow

Poole Pottery: Early Poole

Early Poole looks at the start of tile and architectural pottery making at Hamworthy and Poole from 1850s, takeover and expansion by the Carter family, the start of art wares in the Art Nouveau era, and the setting up of Carter Stabler and Adams in 1921.

This partnership established Poole as we know it, and the key designer was Truda Adams, later Carter, who created the Poole ‘look’ in the 1920s.

The talk is very much about Truda, perhaps the greatest lady ceramic designer of the 20s and 30s, but a woman who life has been clouded in mystery and who is almost unknown today. This talk explores the mystery of Truda and tries to find answers.

This Friends Talk is fundraiser – we ask all attendees for a donation (including Friends)
