Inspire Weekend

Click for the full programme for each day

St Barbe Museum and Art Gallery is throwing open its doors and inviting everyone in for the Inspire Weekend on 17 and 18 September – there will be FREE ENTRY all weekend for visitors to come in, explore, engage and find out more about what we do for the local community.

There is a full programme of activities through-out the weekend including live music on our sunny terrace on Saturday featuring Alice Williamson, JOMO, Empty Frets and Wildwood. We are opening later on Saturday to allow extra time to enjoy the music! On Sunday live music from Coda Ukulele Band, Robbie Jessop and Goodnight Sweethearts

Kim Atkinson – Six-spot Burnet Moths on Red Clover

There is an opportunity to listen to Steve Marshall, our curator talking about the new unique exhibition ‘Small Wonders’ focusing on biodiversity, wildlife and landscape. The exhibition will look at plants, animals and habitats found in the UK which are sometimes overlooked but nevertheless remarkable in their way and most likely under threat for one reason or another.

Have a go at a free craft activity – children’s crafts will take place in our McCarthy Room, a chance to create something to take home.  Adults will enjoy the demonstrations, who knows you might be inspired to try a new hobby?

Community artwork

How about contributing to our community art installation? Help us create a giant collage celebrating the wildlife, from worms to bugs – let your imagination take over! Watch out for our stilt walkers and bubble master who will be making magic happen…

Such a lot going on, the good news is it’s FREE, you can come in as many times as you want!

Come and enjoy all St Barbe has to offer, a thriving cultural hub with heritage talks, artist workshops, the Old School Café and a delightful giftshop.

We serve great coffee, speciality tea and delicious lunches in our Old School Café so you can recharge and relax whilst you wait for the next activity to start. Full programme and timings for the weekend to be announced soon!
