Textile artist Vanessa Rolf – member of The 62 Group -will share her approach to using scraps of repurposed cloth to create quilts with meaning and stories to tell.

Through demonstrations and examples you will learn how to hand piece scraps of cloth, baste and edge. You will be introduced to techniques such as kantha, sashiko/boro, and scrap quilting as methods of giving old cloth new life. You will be encouraged to embrace improvising when it comes to arranging your scraps and being led by your own preferences rather than following a pattern or formula.

Each participant will create their own mini scrap quilt, as a keepsake or to gift.

All levels of ability welcome. Materials provided but you are encouraged to bring your own cotton or linen textiles to repurpose.
