The Mitford Family’s creation of the Exbury Estate in C18th

Location: Lymington Baptist Church, New street

Presented By Hon. Emma Page

From the early 1700s the Mitford family assembled the Exbury estate from farmland and built Exbury House, giving up their ownership a century and a half later in 1879. Emma gives an account of these times based on the Exbury Estate Book compiled by three generations of the Mitford family. The book Exbury, resulting from Emma’s doctoral research on the subject, and published by the New Forest Heritage Centre, will be available at the talk.
