Description

Summary: scan of a black and white photo of the coastguard station, Keyhaven by F J Arnott, 1905-1910.

Identification note: For internal use only; no commercial use

Identification note: The coastguard station and cottages in Keyhaven were built in 1874. They stand at right angles to the road, south of The Gun Inn. Legend has it that the wooden fence surrounding the cottages was constructed from planks from the famous yacht ‘Alarm’ which had been broken up in Southampton. ‘Alarm’ had been built at Lymington by Inman’s shipyard, later to become Berthon.
