St Barbe Museum and Art Gallery collects material with a clear provenance or relationship to the parishes of Boldre, Hordle, Lymington + Pennington, Milford-on-Sea, Barton, New Milton, Keyhaven and Sway.

We are actively collecting art*, social history (maps, prints, drawings, photographs, postcards, guides etc), and objects relating to boatbuilding, Wellworthy, and the salt industry. We are also expanding our contemporary collection including objects related to the development of St Barbe, important local events, the history of local companies and material reflecting local change and the Covid-19 pandemic. We also accession digital images and oral histories.

We are not actively collecting archaeological or natural science material and defer to Hampshire Cultural Trust.

If you have an object(s) that you would like to gift to the museum collection, please bring it along during our opening hours or email with any queries.

*with a topographical relevance, representing important local persons, by an artist who was born or spent their working life in the area
