Description

Summary: photograph, black and white, of the casting machine designed by Jack Leonard and used at the Wellworthy Ringwood works. Molten metal was poured into the crucible at the front and from there passed into the two circles at the front of the machine. Centrifugal force caused the metal to form a cylinder - the more metal poured, the thicker the cylinder. The cylinders were then sent to Lymington to be made into pistons.
