Description

Summary: digital image, scan of a sepia photograph of East Grove from the north, focussing on the central part of the house and entrance. Dated 1935-1940 due to the existence of the railings

Identification note: Showing the larch-lap fence between Miry Mead and Grove Road. Miry Mead was bought by the Russells from the executors of Miss Alder, the late owner of South Hayes which lies on the north side of Grove Road, at the same timea s the Russells bought East Grove. This fence was replaced in about 1985 by a brick wall set back from the road to ensure good sightlines from South Grove. There is no pavement - this was only installed in 1987.
